Can You Mow Wet Grass With a Battery Mower?
A cordless battery-powered electric lawn mower like the EGO Power+, are designed to be able to cut wet grass with an extremely low risk for electrocution. Many customers use battery operated electric mowers to cut wet grass with minimal to no issues; however, it’s always best to operate any electric appliance in a dry environment free of moisture to avoid any potential damage or electrocution, no matter how low the probability.
While it’s very rare for a battery electric mower to be damaged by wet grass, it’s still a potential possibility that you should be aware of as water can cause ingress and damage over time to any electrical appliance. While slightly dewy grass shouldn’t be an issue for most, mowing in the rain could pose a risk to the lithium-ion battery and other electrical components in the mower that could damage or cripple the mower.
Can you Cut Wet Grass with a Plug-in Electric Mower?
Since a plug-In electric mower uses a cord, the risk for electrocution cutting wet grass is higher than the battery-operated mower. The reason for this is that the live electrical cable can be damaged and expose live electrical current that could be harmful if touched. For this reason, we would recommend NEVER using a plug-in electric mower on wet grass.
Like the battery mower, operating a plug-in electrical mower in the rain greatly increases the chances of electrical damage to the mower as electrical components should only be operated within a dry environment for best performance and to reduce the risk of moisture damage.
